[12:09:14 PM] Georgina: yea i see

[12:09:21 PM] Chetawat: i came up with

1. web base

2. functionality

[12:09:46 PM] irwin418: ok

[12:09:54 PM] Chetawat: and i'm thinking about security also

[12:10:10 PM] Georgina: yes we was talking abour that on thur

[12:10:16 PM] Georgina: I think that a good on e

[12:10:22 PM] Georgina: Dimensions – due Sunday  4/26

Use Cases – due Sunday  5/3

[12:10:44 PM] Georgina: these are the due date from the PPT for week 3

[12:11:19 PM] Chetawat: i see

[12:12:06 PM] Georgina: I was aslo think how any user account

[12:12:29 PM] Chetawat: yeah

[12:13:34 PM] irwin418: okay on the deadlines

[12:13:48 PM] Georgina: cool

[12:14:25 PM] irwin418: Maybe  something on usabillity

[12:15:13 PM] Georgina: yes that was a good

[12:15:45 PM] Chetawat: what about usability?

[12:16:06 PM] Chetawat: do you mean what does it use for right?

[12:16:56 PM] irwin418: no, that would be more functionality.  I am thinking more on the set up.  More on the iterface.

[12:17:09 PM] Chetawat: oh i see

[12:17:16 PM] Chetawat: more like user interface?

[12:18:31 PM] Georgina: Hmm

[12:19:08 PM] irwin418: yeah

[12:19:16 PM] irwin418: just an idea to think about

[12:20:18 PM] Chetawat: here's somthing I wrote on wikis

[12:20:20 PM] Chetawat: 1. Web-based:

A web based activities is an application that assists the clients to access via web browser over a network including the internet and intranet access.

It also helps assuring the convenience of update and maintain corporate's information by providing web access for clients. Depending on the type of application, it may require the development of an entirely different browser-based interface, or merely adapting an existing application to use different presentation technology.

Web application such as webmail, wikis, profile page, corporate's mission/ vision and meeting schedules.

Number of users

Link up network both Intranet and Internet

[12:21:38 PM] Georgina: i think we should have somthing more like  how will keep the softe ware up and running

[12:21:56 PM] irwin418: I like what you wrote on wiki's

[12:22:31 PM] Georgina: jay that is good

[12:22:42 PM] irwin418: That is a good one it needs to be dependable and relaible

[12:24:34 PM] Chetawat: ok

[12:24:53 PM] Chetawat: we gonna need probably six more of thoses

[12:25:05 PM] Georgina: yes

[12:26:35 PM] Georgina: jay what about some of the thing we talked about on thur

[12:27:03 PM] Chetawat: yeah i'm working on it

[12:27:08 PM] Chetawat: security

[12:27:33 PM] Georgina: I am looking at one more now

[12:27:34 PM] Georgina: cool

[12:27:35 PM] Chetawat: and functionality right

[12:27:43 PM] Georgina: yes

[12:27:58 PM] Georgina: I am google this last one now

[12:28:12 PM] Georgina: to see if it will fix

[12:28:13 PM] Chetawat: cool

[12:30:51 PM] Chetawat: Irwin, can you think of some more?

[12:31:38 PM] Georgina: my computer is moving so slow

[12:35:41 PM] Georgina: User Size how many user can be on the site at the same time

[12:35:56 PM] Chetawat: umm

[12:36:25 PM] Chetawat: we should limit to be small size

[12:36:41 PM] Chetawat: to promote seamless communication i think

[12:36:43 PM] irwin418: we want to make sure there is good control so only a few users

[12:37:41 PM] Georgina: k

[12:39:13 PM] Georgina: what about  portability

[12:39:25 PM] Georgina: and  availability

[12:39:38 PM] Georgina:  scalability

[12:39:49 PM] irwin418: Availability I like alot.

[12:39:56 PM] Chetawat: Ok can you please elaborate on that

[12:40:15 PM] Georgina: what about user friendly/ease of use

[12:40:17 PM] Georgina: ok

[12:41:57 PM] Chetawat: yeah

[12:42:56 PM] Georgina: the times the application is open for use or when the site is up and running

[12:43:13 PM] Chetawat: ok

[12:43:32 PM] Georgina: what about  functions speed  integration

[12:44:08 PM] Georgina: what do you guys think

[12:45:34 PM] irwin418: I would think friedly/ease of use goes with mone if user friendly

[12:47:27 PM] Chetawat: ok

[12:47:52 PM] Chetawat: I ll put that in user interface would that be ok?

[12:48:31 PM] Georgina: that will be cool

[12:52:03 PM] Georgina: Jay did you want me to find some more

[12:53:06 PM] Chetawat: yeah I want you to find a sub category to put in the main activities just like I did

[12:53:32 PM] Chetawat: forexample what can we put under scalibility

[12:53:57 PM] Chetawat: what to talk about that, then I type in the wiki more easier

[12:55:10 PM] Georgina: is scalibity  the only one you need information for

[12:57:01 PM] Chetawat: others too

[12:57:51 PM] Chetawat: I already compute:

functionality,security,web base, and user interface

[12:58:11 PM] Georgina: ok doin got npw

[12:58:13 PM] Georgina: now

[12:58:21 PM] Chetawat: we need probably 3-4 more

[12:58:43 PM] Chetawat: Irwin you can help too

[12:59:54 PM] irwin418: I am trying to think of some ideas

[1:03:49 PM] Chetawat: cool

[1:07:16 PM] irwin418: I am trying to think of something with communication

[1:08:09 PM] irwin418: About it will improve communication.  It will support informal communication among employees more than ever.  Going on that Informal communication is critical to collaborative work and organization success.

[1:13:33 PM] irwin418: Another one could be perception of Others.  Micro-blog also helps develop people’s perceptions of others’ work: a product manager said that he had a project needs to collaborate with a marketing team that he didn’t have experience about before. By reading their work-related updates in Twitter, he gains insights into how their teams work.

[1:16:57 PM] Chetawat: where can I put this into

[1:17:03 PM] Chetawat: which category?

[1:17:39 PM] Georgina: Scalability, as a property of systems, is generally difficult to define [2] and in any particular case it is necessary to define the specific requirements for scalability on those dimensions which are deemed important. It is a highly significant issue in electronics systems, database, routers, and networking. A system whose performance improves after adding hardware, proportionally to the capacity added, is said to be a scalable system.

[1:18:01 PM] Georgina: Let me know what you think jay

[1:20:02 PM] Georgina: I think thats good Irwin

[1:21:04 PM] irwin418: I like your stuff on scalabilitily

[1:21:12 PM] irwin418: Privacy issue: some people concerned about broadcasting social or work status to everyone on their follower list, sometimes they would prefer to update different updates to different groups.

Security issue: due to twitter is a public service, some people said they would like to post more client and task sensitive information to an internal micro-blog, and would want to see similar posts from others.

Integration issue: people expressed that even if there is an internal secure micro-blog tool, they would also like a more integrated way to stay in touch with people inside and outside organization e.g., co-workers inside the organization, clients and sales partners, other friends in the same industry outside the organization

[1:21:18 PM] Chetawat: nice

[1:21:41 PM] Georgina: cool

[1:22:46 PM] Georgina: we still need two more righ?

[1:23:13 PM] Chetawat: yeah one or two would be fine now

[1:23:55 PM] Georgina: what about

[12:39 PM] Georgina: portability

<<<

[1:24:27 PM] Chetawat: yeah

[1:25:24 PM] Chetawat: So Irwin for your Integration issue, this will be a new category right?

[1:26:46 PM] irwin418: yeah

[1:27:14 PM] Chetawat: nice

[1:34:18 PM] Georgina: ??

[1:34:23 PM] Georgina: ??

[1:34:31 PM] Chetawat: what happen?

[1:34:33 PM] Georgina: ok

[1:34:44 PM] Georgina: nothing

[1:34:52 PM] Chetawat: Irwin can you elaborate on usability again?

[1:36:34 PM] irwin418: ok.  JUst to be user firendly and easy to use and naviagte.

[1:37:22 PM] Chetawat: ok

[1:37:29 PM] Chetawat: thanks

[1:40:09 PM] Chetawat: what can I tell more about integration?

[1:43:28 PM] Georgina: Portability is a characteristic attributed to a computer program if it can be used in an operating systems other than the one in which it was created without requiring major rework

[1:43:41 PM] Georgina: Let me know what you guys think

[1:43:57 PM] Chetawat: nice

[1:44:06 PM] Chetawat: what will be the example?

[1:44:08 PM] Georgina: cool

[1:44:38 PM] Georgina: Porting is the task of doing any work necessary to make the computer program run in the new environment. In general, programs that adhere to standard program interfaces such as the X/Open Unix 95 standard C language interface are portable. Ideally, such a program needs only to be compiled for the operating system to which it is being ported.

[1:45:08 PM] Georgina: will that work

[1:45:29 PM] Chetawat: sure thanks

[1:45:59 PM] Georgina: cool

[1:46:38 PM] Chetawat: Irwin, what is the example of integration??

[1:46:56 PM] Georgina: do you want me t do one more

[1:47:38 PM] Chetawat: we now have seven of them

[1:47:59 PM] Georgina: cool

[1:48:01 PM] Chetawat: I think that should be enogh, don't you think?

[1:48:34 PM] irwin418:

Integrating it into the work environment to improve communication.  It is a way to stay in touch with people inside and outside the organization.  An example would be co-workers inside the organization, clients and sales partners, other friends in the same industry outside the organization.

[1:48:53 PM] Georgina: I think so because she said do like for or five

[1:49:12 PM] irwin418: I think we have some good ones

[1:49:17 PM] Georgina: but we still have to do there part

[1:49:23 PM] Georgina: right?

[1:49:39 PM] Chetawat: yeah

[1:49:48 PM] Chetawat: what part?

[1:50:33 PM] Georgina: getting it now

[1:51:27 PM] Georgina: Arbitrary points. This is the second half of the original dimensions assignment. You must describe the patterns of collaboration you see as common for your project topic area.

Also, identify the 6 or 8 major characteristics of the tools to support those patterns of collaboration.

Remember that the objective of this assignment is to help you develope rich and interesting Use Cases.

[1:52:15 PM] Chetawat: so we have to find the program that support what we wrote?

[1:53:50 PM] Georgina: yes

[1:54:04 PM] irwin418: That is what it sounds like.  That will be hard.

[1:56:22 PM] Georgina: Irwin your are in the monday night class right

[1:56:36 PM] irwin418: yeah

[1:56:38 PM] irwin418: u?

[1:56:50 PM] irwin418: dl though?

[1:57:03 PM] Georgina: yes DL

[1:57:17 PM] Georgina: did she talk about any thing

[1:57:52 PM] Georgina: I have not looked at class from monday bad me

[1:58:48 PM] irwin418: She talked more about the Use case.

[1:59:29 PM] Georgina: i know she jump around a lot in class

[2:02:48 PM] Chetawat: does anyone know how to use mindmeister? I try to draw the diagram for our activities

[2:03:30 PM] Georgina: she show the class but it was not too clear

[2:03:44 PM] Chetawat: here is what we done so far; check it out

http://pm440.pbwiki.com/Dimensions-RN

[2:03:57 PM] Georgina: looking now

[2:04:54 PM] irwin418: I am looking too

[2:05:31 PM] Chetawat: please feel free to edit

[2:06:19 PM] Georgina: ok

[2:09:29 PM] Georgina: i think it looks good

[2:09:59 PM] Georgina: Can you add our  chat to the page

[2:10:04 PM] irwin418: Same here

[2:10:28 PM] Chetawat: sure I will

[2:10:47 PM] Georgina: cool

[2:11:04 PM] Georgina: Well i know for the next task

[2:11:33 PM] Georgina: we wil need to meet at leat 2 or 3 times next

[2:11:34 PM] Georgina: weel

[2:11:37 PM] Georgina: week

[2:12:01 PM] Georgina: what do you guys think

[2:12:21 PM] Chetawat: yeah

[2:12:27 PM] irwin418: at least

[2:12:49 PM] irwin418: Do we still need an example for today?

[2:13:03 PM] irwin418: There is a program called yammer

[2:13:17 PM] Georgina: cool

[2:13:29 PM] irwin418: Yammer

Yammer is Twitter with a business model. Created by an existing company, Geni, to scratch its own itch, Yammer takes the familiar Twitter messaging system and applies it to internal corporate communications. There is such a huge demand for this type of service that 10,000 people and 2,000 organizations signed up for the service the first day it launched on Monday. Anyone with a corporate email can sign up and follow other people in their company. But if a company wants to claim its users, and gain administrative control over them, they will have to pay. It’s a brilliant business model.

[2:13:30 PM] Georgina: do you have the website

[2:13:55 PM] Chetawat: great

[2:14:04 PM] Georgina: yes i like it

[2:14:14 PM] Georgina: good job Irwin

[2:14:16 PM] irwin418: It may not be everything we said though, but it is for business use.

[2:14:32 PM] irwin418: I am still reading more about it now.

[2:14:59 PM] irwin418: This feature of it is cool: Yammer is a tool for making companies and organizations more productive through the exchange of short frequent answers to one simple question: "What are you working on?"

As employees answer that question, a feed is created in one central location enabling co-workers to discuss ideas, post news, ask questions, and share links and other information. Yammer also serves as a company directory in which every employee has a profile and as a knowledge base where past conversations can be easily accessed and referenced.

Anyone in a company can start their Yammer network and begin inviting colleagues. The privacy of each network is ensured by limiting access to those with a valid company email address. The basic Yammer service is free. Companies can pay to claim and administer their network

[2:18:37 PM] Georgina: cool

[2:25:58 PM] irwin418: https://www.yammer.com/

[2:26:14 PM] Georgina: thanks

[2:26:36 PM] irwin418: http://www.crunchbase.com/company/yammer

[2:26:40 PM] irwin418: That has some video about it

[2:27:20 PM] Georgina: looking at it now

[2:27:59 PM] Georgina: i think this is cool

[2:33:34 PM] irwin418: I agree

[2:33:41 PM] Chetawat: yeah

[2:33:47 PM] irwin418: there may be better, but right now this is the best I can find

[2:36:09 PM] Georgina: i think this one should be fine

[2:38:36 PM] Georgina: when do you guys wanted to meet again?

[2:39:45 PM] Chetawat: I'm free after wednesday

[2:40:18 PM] Georgina: what about Irwin

[2:41:46 PM] irwin418: Wednesday and Thursday night I have plans.  Wednesday night I should be able to do after 9.  Thursday night won't work.  I am going to this show at 9.

[2:42:40 PM] Chetawat: oh i see

[2:43:01 PM] irwin418: Does wed night work for you guys?

[2:43:06 PM] Georgina: yes

[2:43:10 PM] Chetawat: yes

[2:43:19 PM] Georgina: what about 9:30

[2:43:28 PM] irwin418: That should be fine

[2:43:30 PM] Chetawat: cool

[2:44:03 PM] irwin418: Great.  SO we will meet then.

[2:44:15 PM] Georgina: ok so we meet 3 times nest week

[2:44:32 PM] Chetawat: i'm already update everything on our page

[2:44:34 PM] Chetawat: sure

[2:44:48 PM] Georgina: ok cool

[2:44:49 PM] irwin418: cool

[2:44:52 PM] irwin418: great

[2:45:08 PM] Georgina: Please let me know if there is any thing else i can do

[2:45:38 PM] irwin418: So were done for everything do today.  Now we just have to reaserch for the use case, correct?

[2:45:47 PM] Georgina: yes

[2:46:45 PM] Georgina: so we should come to the meeting with ideas

[2:46:46 PM] Chetawat: yeah
